Family, friends and fabulous food is what weekends are all about in Dubai and since moving to the UAE, we have found just the right spot to cheer us up when we feel a bit homesick! It is one of the top restaurants in South Africa, a firm favourite in Dubai and is better known as the amazingly delicious, Tashas.
Tashas is located in The Galleria which is the perfect spot in Dubai for luxury shopping and a luxury meal to follow! This was exactly what we were in the mood for this past weekend and we had some mouth-watering dishes (as always), so be warned not to look at this post if you’re hungry because it is filled with deliciousness!
For starters I always stick to something light and healthy, but with lots of flavour and the Beetroot Carpaccio with fennel, goats cheese and edamame was refreshing and the perfect starter (Ritza loved it too and she doesn’t even eat beetroot!)
If you are more of a beef lover like my wife, the Beef Carpaccio with truffle oil, capers, parmesan shavings and mayonnaise is perfectly seasoned and just delicious (who doesn’t love parmesan shavings anyway!)
Choosing a main is probably the most difficult choice you will have to make all day – there are just too many delicious options! I like to order the dishes that are most popular in the restaurant and in this case, our lovely waitress suggested we try the Steak Tagliata which is 250g thinly sliced fillet tossed with rocket, roasted cherry tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, soy sauce, chilli, garlic, ginger, pine nuts and parmesan shavings with mash on the side – a lovely Asian style dish and absolutely perfectly balance with heat and flavour!
Ritza had the Chicken Vol-Au-Vent which is delicious slow-roasted chicken and mushrooms in a rich and creamy sauce served on 3 delicious puff pastry shells – it is so popular, customers even order it for breakfast (not to mention the rose gold pot it comes in is simply gorgeous)!
After this gourmet 2-course meal, I decided to end off my meal with a “dessert cooler” instead of an actual dessert and this is probably the best mocktail I’ve ever had and you MUST promise to give it a try if you ever visit Tashas.
It is a passion fruit mojito and has the consistency of a slushy topped off with soda water, fresh raspberries and lime – absolutely sublime!
